After a long public debate, the Parliament has extended the moratorium on new MCBI applications by six additional months. The moratorium will expire on 1 September 2020. 76 MPs out of 101 members of the Parliament have supported the idea of the new moratorium. In the meantime, the executive authorities will be expected to verify and amend the due diligence procedures in order to minimize risks for the national security. The members of the Parliament also spoke at length about the need to cancel the anonymity of MCBI applicants. We may expect amendments to the MCBI legislation providing for the publication of names of MCBI citizens.
